Calibration test stand for flow sensors
A specially equipped test stand is required to carry out the final inspection of flow sensors. This must be able to precisely record the behavior of the sensor to be tested and calibrated under various conditions. This includes measuring at constant flow as well as accurately recording data at varying flow profiles, which can be both rising and falling. The calibration process of the sensor can be carried out either manually or automatically by the operator.
Compact calibration test stand for volume flow sensors
The test stand is used to calibrate mechatronic flow sensors of various sizes. It enables the characteristics and switching points of these sensors to be checked. The volume flow is adjustable in the range from 0.01 to 25 l/min, and up to four sensors of the same size can be calibrated simultaneously. The test process can be carried out manually or automatically, although the assembly is always done manually.
The system has two pumps arranged in parallel to cover a wide volume flow range and two high-precision Coriolis reference sensors with different measuring ranges. The pumps ensure high speed stability, which enables precise operating points. In the parallel temperature control circuit, the water is passed through a dirt trap, a UV lamp for disinfection and a heat exchanger for re-cooling to a maximum of 23 °C. Heat is dissipated via the in-house cooling water network.
Special test stand for the calibration of flow sensors. The operator station is on the right side of the system. In the middle is the test section in which up to four sensors can be mounted. Pull-out shelves are installed on the left side of the system in which the adapter pieces for different test specimen diameters can be stored.
The electrical connections for the test specimens are located above the test specimen section. The cameras are used to identify the examinees. The test status of the sensors is displayed via four separate status lights.

Measuring ranges
0.01 to 1 l/min: Control accuracy +- 0.002 l/min
1 to 15 l/min: control accuracy +- 0.2% of Q
15 to 25 l/min: control accuracy +- 0.5% of Q
Up to four test specimens can be mounted one behind the other on the test track. The test section consists of permanently installed guide carriages and interchangeable inserts. This means that a wide variety of sensors with different process connections and diameters can be tested. The adapters are replaced manually.
The test items are inserted one after the other and electrically contacted. After all test items have been mounted, the clamping process is carried out using safe two-hand operation. After the test, the test specimens can be blown out with air. Below the test specimens there is a drip tray for leaks, which in turn is connected to the tank. There is also another tray under all system components with a leak sensor to detect leaks within the system.
Benefits
High-Performance Test Stand, Perfectly Tailored to Your Application
High precision reference
Two Coriolis measuring devices ensure high-precision measurement of the reference volume flow over a wide range.
High level of parameterization depth
The test sequences, calibration routines and test parameters can be adjusted on a password-protected operating level. This enables the customer to react flexibly to new and changing testing requirements and to make configurations independently.
Short cycle times
By using servo-controlled positive displacement pumps, the volume flows can be increased quickly to save valuable cycle time.
Perfectly integrated
The test bench is connected to the company's internal database and the order system and compares the test orders with the customer's systems.
