Fluid lines - flexibility and top performance for your testing environment

In the development of modern automotive components, especially in the field of thermal management, tests often face complex challenges. Components such as HV heaters, pumps, valves or entire assemblies must be tested under realistic conditions, whereby the volume flow and temperature must be precisely controlled. Rapid load changes or temperature-dependent changes in the viscosity of the medium are particularly challenging. This pushes conventional solutions such as Tichelmann systems or valve solutions to their limits and usually leads to unsatisfactory test results.

Cutting-edge technology in our test center for your best test results

Our fluid lines are specially designed to meet these demanding test scenarios. They combine maximum precision and reliability with the flexibility to reproduce even complex test conditions. This allows you to optimize and future-proof your test environment - with minimal integration effort. We have been successfully using the fluid lines developed by Pollux in our own test field for years.

The technology used - consisting of speed-controlled servo positive displacement pumps and our unique servo injection technology - forms the basis for precise temperature and volume flow control, so that precisely defined ambient conditions can be created for each test specimen.

Our fluid lines offer the possibility to regulate pressure or volume flow individually and with high precision; here, for example, electromagnetic flow meters (EMFs) or Coriolis are used, which ensure extremely precise measurement of the volume flow, while the Servospeed positive displacement pumps, a Pollux in-house development, impress with their outstanding dynamics and precision.

The fluid lines are not only optimized for use in our test center; they can also be easily integrated into existing test environments as an upgrade, allowing our customers to benefit from the latest technology without having to extensively retrofit existing systems. Connecting the fluid lines only requires the provision of cooling water or, depending on requirements, access to a cryogenic circuit or an existing temperature control system without volume flow control; in addition, integration into the test bench control system takes place via a variety of common bus systems such as EtherCAT or ProfiNET, ensuring maximum compatibility.

Details of the technology used

Volume flow control using speed-controlled servo positive displacement pumps

  • Thanks to their precise speed-regulated control, our positive displacement pumps enable direct control of the volume flows without having to rely on inefficient control valves; in contrast to conventional control technologies, no energy is wasted as the pumps only ever provide the hydraulic power that is actually required.
  • The positioning resolution and dynamics of the servomotors far exceed those of control valves; while high-quality valves offer dynamics of around 1:150, our servomotors achieve dynamics of "1 in several thousand", which guarantees maximum precision even with the smallest volume flows or abrupt changes.

Temperature control through servo injection technology

  • The servo injection technology developed by Pollux regulates the temperature by injecting specific amounts of heat or cold directly into the flow; the control circuits are controlled in such a way that there is no mutual interference, enabling extremely precise and stable control even under complex operating conditions.
  • In contrast to conventional mixing valves, which often lead to oscillations or inaccurate control, especially with large changes in cooling capacity, our systems operate completely valve-free; this avoids the typical disadvantages that occur with valves, especially in the lower range of their characteristic curves.
  • Thanks to the model-based control and the high positioning resolution of the servomotors, not only is the target temperature reached extremely quickly, but thermal stability is also guaranteed in the event of abrupt load changes, for example when switching large thermal loads such as HV heaters on and off.
