Tests of HV heaters at Pollux

Pollux has been a leader in the conditioning of liquids such as oil, water and special media for over 10 years. With the opening of our expanded test facility in Kirchheimbolanden in 2023, we have specialized in state-of-the-art e-mobility and thermal management solutions.

Equipment for high-voltage heater tests

Our focus is on precise environmental testing with conditioned media and DC voltages of up to 1,500 V as well as high power:

  • Fluid lines for simultaneous testing of 1 to 24 test specimens with individual and high-precision control of the volume flows
  • Support for water/glycol, oil and dielectric coolants
  • 500 kW recooling for high-temperature tests
  • Recooling 300 kW for cold water operation
  • Modular low-temperature conditioning down to -40 °C (outputs up to 50 kW)
  • Climate chambers with a volume of up to 1,000 liters for variable ambient conditions
  • HV racks with up to 72 kW and 1,500 VDC (expandable)
  • Fully integrated safety functions with automatic switch-off if tolerances are exceeded
  • Test-selective current measurement for detailed analyses
  • LIN and CAN interfaces for synchronization with DUTs

For precise and safe conditioning of the test specimens, we use specialized fluid lines that enable individual control and recording of the volume flow for each of the six lines. Our proven approach, which combines positive displacement pumps with high-precision servo drives, guarantees exceptional accuracy - even when viscosity changes significantly due to temperature fluctuations. We have been successfully using this technology for years to ensure maximum performance and reliability.

The test specimens can be fully integrated into the test bench control system developed by Pollux via CAN, LIN or other bus variants. This enables precise synchronization of all test item data with the other test variables. The measured values are usually recorded at a recording rate of 1 Hz. If required, specific monitoring functions for DUT variables can be activated to ensure optimum control and safety during test operation.

  • P-01 to P-03: Parameter tests

Specific stress tests:

  • K-01: High/low temperature storage
  • K-02: Step temperature tests
  • K-03: Low temperature operation
  • K-05: Temperature shocks (liquid)

Service life tests:

  • L-01: Mechanical/hydraulic endurance tests
  • L-02: High-temperature endurance tests
  • L-03: Temperature change endurance tests
